Gravity
An automatic watch winds itself by falling. A weighted rotor swings with every turn of the wrist, and that motion is wound into the mainspring. No battery, no charger, just you moving.

Mechanical watches, designed from first principles and made in small numbers. Our first, the 3BL, is on its way.
A heartbeatLive
The name isn't a slogan. Gravity, spring and pivot are what a mechanical watch runs on: take any one away and it stops.
An automatic watch winds itself by falling. A weighted rotor swings with every turn of the wrist, and that motion is wound into the mainspring. No battery, no charger, just you moving.
The rotorThe mainspring stores the energy; the hairspring, a coil finer than a hair, lets it out in exact beats, several times every second. That's why a mechanical seconds hand steps rather than sweeps.
The hairspringEvery wheel turns on a pivot no thicker than a pin, set in a synthetic ruby so it barely wears. Jewels sit at every point where friction would otherwise win.
